They'll think God left the museum for good.

Okay so that line means something completely different in the song than in this journal but I feel like it is fitting. It can make you scared, but only if you want it to.

Censorship continues to creep in at the edges, it seems to be slowly and aimed mostly only at visual art, I say mostly because several of you have had written works targeted as well. I have noticed that it started with photo-manip. folks, and then spread to DID creators, and now all the way to an amazing artist who I have featured several times who creates beautiful works.

Here are his thoughts and where the subsequent discussion is at present.

This beautiful shot got him a note suggesting that he remove the image, not telling, just suggesting. So it starts out with a little old fashioned melodramatic suggestive threat, and therefore from a place of very tenuous moral standing in my opinion. I believe it was handled thus because when one looks at it, you can see how it could be interpreted that the lady is touching herself erotically, or is covering herself, she could be stifling a yawn, or a cry of ecstasy.

It is all open to interpretation, which is inherently clever on the part of both model and photographer, and that is literally what makes it art and not porn. Porn is brazen and clear and gratuitous, whereas art is expressive and subtly suggestive. That this piece could be considered porn is an absolute anathema to me, and a slap in the face to art in general. Trying to push us back into the sixties. A woman's body is beautiful, and her pleasure is incredible. It is not degrading to something to show the potential for its beauty. Does anyone else feel that Neo-Feminism is starting to flirt with all out 'slut shaming?' While intending no offence to pornographic actresses or actors, I don't think it is fair to this model to insinuate that she is part of something pornographic.

In the end I feel like people decide to allow nude images to show up in their profile, and they should therefore be prepared for the fact that sometimes those nude people will be excited and not just casually being nude in a blaze way.

Anyhow, I could go on for hours and hours. What are your thoughts? Do you feel that this type of thing is trying to pigeon hole art into a barrower scope, and thereby taking us back into more conservative times.
